Technical Parameters

We process our IV120 from non-GMO soybean oil at our Dalian plant, with iodine value typically running 115–125 g I₂/100g. It's not a specialty grade - it's the workhorse soybean fatty acid that coating and paint manufacturers keep coming back for, because it's boringly consistent and the price stays sane.

Most of our IV120 goes into alkyd resin production for paint formulations. The linoleic/oleic split in this grade runs around 50–55% linoleic, which gives a predictable cure response in both solvent-based and water-borne alkyd systems without requiring you to rework your entire formulation. We've had steady orders from coating manufacturers across Southeast Asia who use it as a partial replacement for longer-chain fatty acids, mainly to control cost without sacrificing drying performance.

On the numbers: acid value typically lands in the 190–200 mg KOH/g range, moisture is kept under 0.3% (we test every batch, not just a daily composite), and color is monitored in Gardner units so you're not getting surprised mid-production run. We don't claim "zero impurities" - that's not how industrial fatty acids work - but we do track batch-to-batch variance tightly enough that most customers don't need to re-approve after the first trial.

For paint films, the IV120 grade gives good flexibility - the coating can handle temperature fluctuations without cracking, and adhesion on metal, wood, and concrete substrates is reliably consistent. Weather resistance benefits from that linoleic level, though if your formulation is heavily exposed, we should talk about whether IV130 or a blended approach makes more sense.

It's a bio-based material, derived from non-GMO soybean oil. We're not going to oversell the "sustainable" angle - it's industrial grade, not a green premium product. But if your procurement specs ask for bio-based content or traceable non-GMO origin, this grade clears that bar without the price tag of specialty bio-materials. We can also provide REACH compliance documentation and other regional certification support on request.

Packaging follows whatever you're already set up for: 180kg drums, IBC totes, or bulk tanker if you're running sustained volume. Export loads typically go 16–18 MT per 20ft FCL depending on packaging choice. Lead time is usually 10–15 days after order confirmation, sometimes faster if you're already on contract.

If you're formulating water-borne systems, the unsaturated content in IV120 can be a bit lively - reach out and we'll talk through whether a different IV grade (IV100 or IV130) might save you some formulation headache. We'd rather point you to the right grade than have you fight with a material that's not quite right for your process.

Samples are available in 1kg or 5kg from current production - not from a separate "sample stock" that may not match what you'd actually receive by the ton. Send over your typical acid value range and moisture tolerance and we'll tell you straight whether IV120 is the right fit.
