Soyabean fatty acid IV130

IV130 soy fatty acid is the in-between cut we run more of every single year, for manufacturers who've landed their formulation right in the gap between standard IV120 and IV140. It's not some premium specialty grade with a marked-up price. It's literally just a different cut point on the same fractionation column - pulled right between the two standard grades - so you don't have to rework your entire recipe just to match a supplier's round-number stock grades.

Plenty of shops test IV120 and find it cures too slow for their line speed. They test IV140 and find it kicks too hard, causing skinning or uneven through-cure. They land on 130, and it sticks. That's why we run it more and more - it's the sweet spot a lot of formulations never knew they needed.

Same non-GMO crude soybean feedstock you get with every grade off this line. No exceptions, no upcharge. This isn't a green marketing add-on we dreamed up to slap a premium on. Years back, European and Southeast Asian customers started requiring non-GMO traceability for import clearance and product labeling, so we switched the whole line over. We didn't put out a press release, we didn't rebrand anything. We just changed our feedstock standard and kept it that way.

We don't buy pre-hydrolyzed crude fatty acid from a third party and run it through one quick polish step to call it our own. Every step - hydrolysis, primary distillation, fractional distillation, final filtration, even drum filling - happens entirely in-house at our Dalian plant.

We own every stage of the process, so we own every spec. Iodine value, acid value, moisture, color, trace impurities - we measure them on the line, we adjust them on the line, and we catch drift while the batch is still in the production tank. Not after it's loaded into a container and two weeks out to sea. No last-minute surprises, no arguments over specs.

Straight off the column, IV130 consistently lands in the 128–132 g I₂/100g window. We don't advertise a perfect "130" on every certificate of analysis and pretend there's zero batch-to-batch variation. That's just not how large-scale continuous fractionation works in the real world. Anyone who tells you they hit an exact single number every single time is either running 50-liter lab batches that don't scale, or they're not being honest. For 99% of formulations tuned for this reactivity level, this 4-point window is more than tight enough.

We hold that window not with some AI-powered self-optimizing control system that calibrates itself every second. It doesn't take fancy black-box tech. It takes our column operator checking key temperatures and sampling twice every shift, and tweaking the cut point and reflux ratio by hand when feedstock composition shifts or cold overnight weather dips the tower temperature.

The operator running this section has been on this exact line for 17 years. He can tell if the iodine value is drifting just by watching the flow and clarity through the sight glass - before the lab even runs the sample. He makes small, early adjustments so you never see big swings in the finished product. Consistency doesn't come from throwing expensive equipment at a problem. It comes from people who show up and pay attention.

Composition-wise, unsaturated fatty acids make up roughly 87–88% of the product, mostly linoleic and oleic acid with a small share of linolenic. This isn't some custom lab-engineered "optimized profile" we invented in a research room. It's just the natural makeup of soybean oil, isolated at this specific distillation cut.

Our job isn't to rewrite the chemistry of the raw material. Our job is to strip out impurities, make a clean, sharp cut, and keep that composition consistent batch after batch. You're buying a reliable industrial raw material, not some breakthrough high-tech product.

Saturated fatty acid content stays low, so IV130 is a clear, pale golden, pourable liquid at normal room temperature. It pumps smoothly, mixes cleanly into formulations, and doesn't drop unexpected solids into your reactor. For most production facilities in moderate climates, you won't need to pre-heat drums before unloading. In colder regions in the depths of winter, a quick warm water bath is all it takes to flow fully. No half-day pre-heating routine, no extra handling hassle.

This middle-of-the-range iodine value hits a really useful sweet spot across a handful of major applications.

For alkyd resin manufacturers, it's perfect for medium-to-high oil formulations where you want more speed than IV120 but more control than IV140. Cure speed is noticeably faster than IV120, which can boost line throughput for high-volume industrial coating operations, but it's calmer and more predictable than IV140 - no sudden surface skinning, no uneven through-cure, no surprise film defects. It delivers a solid balance of hardness and flexibility, with good adhesion and dependable outdoor weathering. It works well across industrial topcoats, anti-rust primers, exterior architectural paints and wood coatings.

For dimer acid production, it strikes a really strong balance between reaction speed and purity. It's got more double bonds to drive polymerization than IV120, so you get better conversion rates without cranking up catalyst loading. But it's not so reactive that the reaction runs away from you and generates excess byproducts that drag down final yield and purity. The reaction window is still wide and forgiving, so you don't have to stand over the reactor tweaking settings every shift.

For industrial surfactants and metalworking fluids, it delivers solid emulsifying power and moderate foaming - better cleaning strength than you get from IV120, but still stable and easy to formulate with. It's fully biodegradable, REACH compliant, and works great for heavy-duty industrial cleaners and general-purpose plant-based detergent formulations.

You'll also see it used in rubber processing aids, leather fatliquoring agents, and mining flotation collectors. It drops straight into most standard formulations with no major modification needed. More than enough for day-to-day production.

That said, it's not a one-size-fits-all answer. If you need absolute maximum reactivity for ultra-fast cure specialty coatings, go with IV140. If you want the widest, most forgiving reaction window for general-purpose production, IV120 is still your best bet. IV130 is the sweet spot in the middle. If you're not sure where your formulation lands, test a sample. That's always the safest call.

Let's go over the actual specs you'll see on a real COA - no marketing word games, no inflated claims.

Acid value typically runs 195–205 mg KOH/g, with a normal swing of a few points either way. Is it exactly 200 every single batch? No. No large-scale industrial distillation process is that perfectly consistent. If your formulation is so sensitive that a 3 or 4 point swing breaks it, you've probably got bigger issues to work through on your end. Robust industrial formulations are built to handle normal process variation.

Moisture content stays under 0.2% almost all the time. That's not thanks to some patented super-drying technology. It's just properly maintained vacuum systems, consistent deep vacuum during distillation, and no cutting corners on scheduled maintenance. Keep the equipment in good shape, and moisture doesn't leak back in. It's basic plant discipline, not rocket science.

Color, measured on the Gardner scale, usually falls between 2 and 4 for standard production, with no more than a 2-point spread within a single batch. Usually. If you need consistently lighter color - Gardner 1 or below - tell us up front. We can segregate lighter batches for you, but it will cost more and take longer to put together a full shipment. We don't advertise "ultra-low color" as a standard feature and then ship you darker material. What we can do, what it costs, how long it takes - we lay it all out upfront.

Packaging is straightforward. Standard options are 180kg PE-lined steel drums, 940kg IBC totes, and flexitanks for full-container sea shipments. A 20ft full container loads roughly 16–18 metric tons, depending on which packaging you choose.

Since this is a targeted cut rather than a standard stocked grade, standard lead time for spot orders is 12–18 days after order confirmation, to fit it into our distillation schedule. If you're on a regular contract with fixed monthly volumes, we build this exact cut right into our production rotation. Faster lead times, better pricing. That's just how it works - you commit to consistent volume, we commit to priority capacity and fair rates.

Samples are pulled straight from regular production runs cut to this exact iodine value. 1kg, 5kg, whatever you need for lab trials and small production tests. We don't run separate "sample-grade" batches that are tweaked to look perfect on paper and lighter in color, only to ship you something different for bulk orders. What you test in your lab is exactly what shows up at your plant. No cheap tricks, no bait and switch.

We're not the largest soy fatty acid manufacturer in China, and we don't compete on being the absolute cheapest. There are suppliers out there that will beat our price if that's all you care about.

What we do stand by is being straight with you. If IV130 is the right fit for your application, we'll tell you. If it's not - if you need a tighter window, a different iodine value, or a different feedstock entirely - we'll tell you that too. We won't waste your time with generic sales pitches about "premium quality" and "world-class service".

When you call with a formulation problem or a question about a batch, you'll get someone who actually works with this product every day, not a sales rep reading off a script. Sometimes the answer is "try turning your reactor temp up a couple degrees". Sometimes it's "that's probably not the fatty acid - let's walk through your process". Sometimes it's "you might actually be better off with IV120 instead". But you'll get a straight answer, and you'll get it fast.

If you're tired of suppliers that overpromise and underdeliver, that ship off-spec material and then argue about it, that never pick up the phone when you have a problem, give us a try. Send us your specs, tell us what you're making, and we'll send you a sample and a straightforward quote.

Q7: Tracking says "held in customs" / hasn't updated in days. What do I do?

A7: Customs clearance can sometimes take a few extra days, it happens. We'll reach out to the carrier on our end to get an update. In the meantime, it's worth checking with your local customs office to see if they need any extra paperwork from you. We're ready to help with any documents they ask for.

Q8: Do you do DDP (delivered duty paid) door-to-door shipping?

A8: Yes, we can arrange DDP shipping to most countries. Send us your full delivery address and your preferred declared value, and we'll quote you an all-in price that covers duties and taxes. You get the goods delivered with no extra hassle.

Q9: Tracking says delivered but I haven't gotten the package.

A9: First, check with neighbors, your building reception, or look for any delivery notice the courier might have left. We'll open an investigation with the courier right away. If you can confirm the shipping address on the order is correct, that helps us rule out any address errors on our end.

Q10: We found defective items in the shipment. What's the process?

A10: Sorry to hear that. If you can send clear photos or a short video of the defect, plus the batch number or product label, we'll look into it right away. If it's confirmed to be a quality issue on our end, we'll sort out a solution - replacement, partial refund, or credit on your next order, whatever works best for you.

Q11: The goods arrived damaged. How do you handle compensation?

A11: Our apologies for the damage. To help us file a claim with the carrier, please send photos of the damaged product, the inner and outer packaging, and the shipping label within 3 business days of delivery. We'll arrange a reshipment or refund based on how bad the damage is. Please hold on to all packaging materials until the claim is settled.

Q12: We received less quantity than we ordered / items are missing.

A13: Sorry about the shortage. First, double-check all cartons, and send over a photo of the packing list you received plus photos of the weight label on each carton. We'll cross-check it against our warehouse shipping records. If the shortage is confirmed, we'll ship the missing quantity right away or deduct the value from your next invoice.

Q14: The color doesn't match the sample / our last batch.

A14: Thanks for flagging this. Minor color differences can happen from monitor calibration or slight batch-to-batch variation in raw material. If you can send a photo of the received product next to the approved sample, we can compare. If the difference is outside our accepted tolerance, we'll work out a fair solution, like a discount or replacement.

Q15: Can I return the goods for a full refund?

A15: We accept returns for items with major quality defects, or items that don't match the approved sample or product description. All returns need to be pre-approved by us first. If you're returning for non-quality reasons - like ordering the wrong grade, for example - we may still accept the return, but you'd be responsible for return shipping and a restocking fee. Reach out to us within 7 days of delivery to request a return.

Q16: I need the certificate of conformity / test report. Can you send it over?

A16: Sure. I've attached the required certificates and test reports to this email. Take a look, and let me know if you need anything else.

Q17: What's your MOQ? Can I order a smaller quantity?

A17: Our standard MOQ is 20 metric tons. We get it, though - sometimes you want to test the market first or run a small trial. We can do smaller trial orders, just at a slightly higher unit price.

Q18: Can I come visit your factory?

A18: Absolutely, you're more than welcome. We'd be happy to arrange a full factory tour and sit down for a meeting. Just let us know what dates work for you, and we can send an official invitation letter if you need it for visa purposes.
